Like most public sector agencies, the Ministry of Health lacked adequate funding. The Iraqi healthcare system is in need of equipment, medicine and trained medical professionals. After the conflict, many local clinics' were ransacked, losing medial supplies to looters. The rebuilding of the health sector is another example of how the U.S. is helping the people of Iraq.
